Class Schedule

Acro

Acro (Ages 6 & Up)- Our newest class combines floor gymnastics with dance. Dancers will learn basic acrobatic moves (i.e. cartwheels, bridges, ariels, forward rolls), as well as, dance moves. We are very excited to have this addition to our Royalenova program for 2015/2016. DRESS CODE – Girls are required to wear Capezio foot undies. Black fitted tank top with leggings, shorts, or sweatpants are allowed. Hair should be pulled away from the face. Boys are required to wear a T-Shirt (any color), comfortable shorts or pants (any color) and Capezio foot undies.

Ballet

Our professional ballet program incorporates different methods to provide your child with a well-rounded education of ballet techniques. While our faculty concentrates on Vaganova and Royal Academy techniques, other forms may be included in the class repertoire. The ballet class consists of barre, center floor, adagio, allegro, progressions and character dance, while developing grace and poise. Terminology and proper technical execution are the primary focus of your child’s dance training The foundation of all dance forms, ballet is strongly encouraged for all serious students.
DRESS CODE – Girls enrolled in this class are required to wear pink ballet shoes, pink tights and a black leotard. Ballet skirts are optional. The hair must also be in a bun. Boys must wear a white shirt, tight fitting black bottoms and black ballet shoes.

Breakdancing

Learn the hottest moves seen on TV shows like “America’s Best Dance Crew.” Develop strength, stamina and flexibility while mastering breakdance in an exciting and encouraging atmosphere. DRESS CODE – Girls are required to wear all white sneakers (designated for the class and recital.) Black fitted tank top with leggings, shorts, or sweatpants are allowed. Hair should be pulled away from the face. Boys are required to wear a T-Shirt (any color), comfortable shorts or pants (any color) and all white sneakers (designated for the class and recital)

Combo

Our program teaches young students with a basic foundation of dance skills by incorporating creative movement and dance technique in ballet and tap. Your child will develop fundamental motor skills including rhythm, coordination, balance and flexibility. Our program will teach your child to follow directions, learn how to share and take turns, while improving their memorization and attention span. At this level your child will be learning their first dance steps in a one-hour class. These dancers will perform both a tap and ballet routine in our year-end recital.
DRESS CODE – Girls are required to wear pink ballet slippers, tan “tyette” tap shoes, pink or tan tights, and a black leotard. Hair should be in a bun and a dance skirt is optional. Boys are required to wear a white T-Shirt, comfortable black shorts or pants, black ballet slippers and black lace up tap shoes.

Jazz

Jazz is energetic form of dance based on a combination of classical, musical theatre, or ‘cutting edge’ choreography. Jazz classes include barre, center floor warm-up including isolations and exercises that build strength and develop technique, progressions and a focus on jumps and turns.
DRESS CODE – Girls are required to wear black super jazz shoes (lace-less jazz boot) or a similar black jazz shoe, tan or black tights, and a black body suit. Black fitted tank top with leggings, shorts, and skirts are allowed. Hair should be pulled away from the face. Boys are required to wear a T-Shirt (any color), comfortable black shorts or pants and black super jazz shoes (lace-less jazz boot)

Lyrical

Lyrical is a fusion of ballet techniques and jazz using different emotions and expressions. Each class consists of center floor and barre warm-up extensions, jumps and turns, progressions and invigorating dance combinations. Students are recommended to take at least one ballet class when enrolling in our lyrical program. Your child will focus on technique while learning to tell a story through their dancing. DRESS CODE – Girls are required to wear tan super jazz shoes (lace-less jazz boot) or a similar tan jazz shoe, tan or black tights, and a black body suit. Black fitted tank top with leggings, shorts, and skirts are allowed. Hair should be pulled away from the face. Boys are required to wear a T-Shirt (any color), comfortable black shorts or pants and tan super jazz shoes (lace-less jazz boot)

Musical Theatre

One of our most popular classes! This jazz based class includes jazz techniques incorporating the use of props and even some acting to provide a “Broadway-Style” performance.
DRESS CODE – Girls are required to wear black super jazz shoes (lace-less jazz boot) or a similar black jazz shoe, tan or black tights, and a black body suit. Black fitted tank top with leggings, shorts, and skirts are allowed. Hair should be pulled away from the face. Boys are required to wear a T-Shirt (any color), comfortable black shorts or pants and black super jazz shoes (lace-less jazz boot).

Parents & Me

Our program combines the physical skills of creative movement, fitness, gymnastics and dance with educational concepts. The blending of these disciplines ensures that each child has an optimal learning experience. Royalenova Performing Arts program focuses on the development of physical and language skills, imagination and socialization while building self-confidence and positive self-esteem for children who love to dance with their beloved Mom, Dad, Grandparent or Guardian. This is a great stepping stone for our Tiny Tots and Tiaras program DRESS CODE (for both parent and dancer)- Comfortable clothing for both parents and dancers. Proper dance clothes is optional for young dancers

Tap

Our tap program consists of all ages and levels and are designed to teach our students rhythm and coordination. Tap classes include barre, center floor, progressions, turns, rhythms and dance combinations. Several tap styles are taught, including “broadway” style (i.e. 42nd Street) using accurate feet and arm placement, and the hottest trend-hoofin’ (i.e. Tap Dogs) using intricate rhythms and speed. Terminology is taught at all levels, while continually increasing technical skills. DRESS CODE – Girls are required to wear black lace up tap shoes, tan or black tights, and a black body suit. Black fitted tank top with leggings, shorts, and skirts are allowed. Hair should be pulled away from the face. Boys are required to wear a T-Shirt (any color), comfortable black shorts or pants and black tap shoes.

Tiny Tots

Royalenova Performing Arts introduction to the world of dance by focusing on teaching our Tots and Tiaras to build a love for dance. To help develop coordination, balance and flexibility the students will also be introduced to acro during their class. Our goal is to help develop the dancers into participating independently, learning to take turns, building friendships and sharing in a group atmosphere. Each year these showstoppers light up the stage at our annual recital.
